Dimboola Pink Lake Walk
The Dimboola Pink Lake walk — 1.5km loop at Loch Iel, with a viewing boardwalk and interpretive panels. Best when the lake colour is up (late October through December).
| Distance | 1.5km loop |
|---|---|
| Time | 40 min |
| Surface | Boardwalk + gravel |
| Difficulty | Easy |
| Start | Loch Iel Pink Lake car park (signposted from Dimboola, ~10 min north) |
The route
From the car park, walk the boardwalk onto the lake edge. Interpretive panels explain the algae and minerals that drive the pink colour. Loop back via the gravel perimeter path.
What you see
The pink lake itself — colour intensity varies day to day with temperature and wind. Best photo time is late afternoon when the low sun saturates the colour.
Important
No swimming, no walking on the lake bed. The salt crust is fragile. Stay on the boardwalk and the perimeter path.
