Hopetoun Visitor Information Centre (Gateway BEET)
Hopetoun’s Visitor Information Centre runs out of Gateway BEET at 75 Lascelles Street — a combined business enterprise and tourism point that serves the agricultural north of Yarriambiack Shire, including Lake Lascelles, the Patchewollock silo, and the gateway routes into Wyperfeld National Park. Open weekdays 9am to 5pm, friendly, council-supported.
Liam from our team uses this centre regularly when running the northern Mallee leg of any silo trip. It’s the only centre between Warracknabeal and Sea Lake that’s reliably staffed during business hours.

Patchewollock silo — local favourite
Patchewollock is 25 minutes north of Hopetoun and home to Fintan Magee’s portrait of farmer Nick Hulland — widely considered the most photographed silo on the trail. The Hopetoun centre stocks the trail map and can advise on the Patchewollock Music Festival schedule (each October — Australia’s smallest, most chaotic, most beloved bush music festival).
Lake Lascelles
A 300-hectare reservoir on the edge of town with a free campground, fishing, water skiing (designated season), and excellent bird watching. Powered and unpowered sites; the council operates the campground on a first-come basis. The centre will give current conditions and water-level information.
Wyperfeld National Park
Wyperfeld is Victoria’s third-largest national park, covering 357,000 hectares of mallee country north-west of Hopetoun. The Snowdrift dunes — vast expanses of bright sand — are a 90-minute drive plus 30-minute walk from the centre, and one of the great underrated experiences in the state. The Hopetoun VIC can advise on track conditions, camping (Wonga Campground is the main access point), and recent malleefowl, emu and kangaroo sightings.
