The route
From Halls Gap, ride east on the Pomonal Road. Climb gently for 6km, descend to the Pomonal township. Lunch at the Pomonal General Store. Return same way (climb in the opposite direction).
What you see
Eucalypt forest, occasional views into the Grampians range, the Pomonal Hops Farm (seasonal), and easy farmland on the Pomonal side.
Safety
Outside school holidays the road is quiet. In peak season expect tourist traffic. Hi-vis recommended. Watch for kangaroos at dawn and dusk.
