3-Day Wimmera River Towns Trail Road Trip
Three days following the Wimmera River — the river that gives the region its name — from its Grampians headwaters at Lake Wartook down through Horsham, Dimboola and Jeparit to Lake Hindmarsh.

Day 1 — Wartook (headwaters) to Horsham (50km)
Lake Wartook dam (the river’s effective source) walk. Drive south to Horsham via Mt Victory Road and Pomonal. Afternoon Wimmera River walk in Horsham (4.5km loop both banks). Sleep Horsham.
Day 2 — Horsham to Dimboola (45km)
Drive west. Dimboola — the most photogenic Wimmera town on the river. Riverside path, Dimboola Bakery, Imaginarium. Loch Iel / Pink Lake detour. Sleep Dimboola or Jeparit.
Day 3 — Dimboola to Jeparit + Lake Hindmarsh (60km)
Drive north to Jeparit — Sir Robert Menzies’ birthplace; the Wimmera-Mallee Pioneer Museum; the Hindmarsh Hotel. Continue 15 min north to Lake Hindmarsh, Victoria’s largest natural freshwater lake.
